About This Course
Basic Life Support – for Health and Social Care guides you through everything you need to know to save a life. With content based on the latest Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines, this online course equips you with the knowledge and skills to quickly and confidently act in an emergency situation.

Who is this course for?
Basic Life Support – for Health and Social Care is designed for professionals working in health, education or social care and for those who are responsible for the safety of others. However, it is an essential training course for all; you never know when you may need to save a life.

What will you get from this course?
Upon course completion, you will be armed with the knowledge to help save a life in an emergency before emergency services arrive on the scene. You’ll be able to detect the symptoms of heart attack and cardiac arrest and act accordingly, know what to do if someone is choking and calmly use an Automatic External Defibrillator.

When you have completed this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the signs of heart attack
- Recognise and act when a person is choking or suffering from cardiac arrest
- Know when and how to put a person into the recovery position
- Understand the different techniques used for adult CPR vs child CPR
- Perform chest compressions and give rescue breaths
- Use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
